JoneSea 9'7 Irie Love

This is my 2nd board I shap'd, It's my throw back model from let's say the 1960's, in 2011 :) I Jones-afyd it! I rode 1 pig that Jimmie Hines shap'd and I fell instantly in LOVE, I'm usually on my High Profomance 9' Minchinton S-Joney Model or on 1 of Greek's Quad Shorty's:) So I had to shape me one a Pigg:)  I had bought 10'2 Green Blank from FOAM-EZ wich is next door to ALOHA GLASSING totally perfect. Probally 10 steps or so haha.  Here is my 9'7 -IL- "Irie Love"

Sea ya out there

Here I am cutting the outline out.

JoneSea Surfboards

 HI,
My name is Shane Jones AKA "JoneSea"I live In Orange County CA. I started surf'n at the young age of 5, 25 years later I have traveled to mind blowing beach's from New Zealand to Costa Rica, Hawaii all up and down the Cali coast to name a few. I like to say I have an old school feel with a modern punch.

I bought this blank from this guy Ken who I make suits for, we got to talkn, the next Sunday I got my blanks. I had an Idea for a shape, so I drew the outline that I wanted onto the blank.  4 years went by I moved 3 times and the blank was kick'n it in the corner of my room.  I lookd at the blank all the time, It just wasnt time I guess it wasn't time.
The 1st board I saw shap'd in front of me was last summer @ Aloha Glassing and Mystro Mike Minchinton carving out magical stick's for me, outta a chunk of foam. After watching Mike, I was like hmmmMmmm...... Im a Tailor, I work with #'s and I work with lines all day, why not.. 3 months went by.  I was talking to Jimmie Hines and he said he loved shaping, he showd me his little shaping shack, as soon as I walkd in to that room, the switch got turn'd on so hard and fast,it blew me away. I went home grabb'd my blank from the pad, roll'd to FOAM-EZ to use there shaping bay, Thanks again 2 the crew @ FOAM-EZ they were most helpfull. They show'd me to the bay and they let me rip with full use of all tools.  Mind you I had no Idea on how to use any of these tools.  I still have alll my fingers thoe :)I wanted to teach myself how to shape. So I shut the door of the shaping room, I threw on the Growlers and proceeded to Vibe out on some killer tunage.  While I was shaping I encounterd a few problems, I didnt know how to set my depth on the router, so I dug a lil hard in a few passes, by the time I hit the bottom, I was mow'n much cleaner lines :)  The Board I had look at for the rough outline was a 1970' Lopez Diamond Tal.   I translated my own interpratation of the board, I just went by feel, So my 1st board I shap'd is a 6'5 "RT" Diamond Tail. Here are a few shots and a vid to check it out. Sea ya out in the water. I took 95% of all the shots, and I made the the video.
Stay Tuned...
